Importing from Turkey

The European Union has a import treaty with Turkey, which clears Turkish products of duty taxes. However, as a requirement the imported goods must have been produced in Turkey and must be accompanied by an ATR.1 certificate. This certificate must be included with the product by the dispatcher of the goods (usually a webshop). Because ATR.1 certificates require quite some paperwork most, if not all, webshops do not include a certificate unless specifically asked for. If you're planning on a high-value import it might be worthwhile to ask your webshop to included a certificate.
